Lesser Known Facts of Treating Fertility Problems Through Naturopathy

As per the best naturopaths in Sydney, the natural approach to treating infertility aims to address its root causes, by addressing all of the body systems, rather than just focusing solely on the reproductive system. Many couples who can’t fall pregnant suffer from a combination of sub-clinical conditions. These conditions can’t cause infertility on their own but in combination, they can substantially reduce a couple’s probability of conceiving.

Our experience in Solutions to Health

Over years our natural fertility specialist, Dorota Wroblewska along with other certified naturopathists have helped thousands of couples overcome infertility to create healthy babies and happy families, even when other treatments have failed. In our experience the clients dealt, all have in common is that they face a combination of multiple undiagnosed fertility challenges and it is helping people to identify their individual fertility issues and then to make the necessary lifestyle changes, that enables us to help so many couples.

We help couples take control of their health and reclaim their natural fertility by giving couples the best possible chance of creating the healthy baby of their dreams. It can be either naturally or through IVF/ICSI when absolutely necessary. For specific, personal advice are recommended to figure out the actual cause of infertility. Our session with the patients helps us ascertain if we can help them to achieve results like so many of our patient success stories.

The advice offered does not replace that given to you by your own medical caregivers and fertility specialists. We encourage everyone to take full responsibility for their own health and well-being, more importantly we understand that successfully overcoming fertility issues demands both personal responsibility and accountability. This means patients must consult with a naturopathist in Sydney who has knowledge on women’s health naturopath.

How fertility problems are treated through naturopathy?

Naturopathic medicines are licensed products that are used in the profession. Naturopaths must complete an undergraduate degree, complete the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at an accredited school, and pass several exams before bestowing their services. Continuing of education is pivotal for all specialists.

The philosophy of naturopath practices is to support the body in doing what it is naturally meant to do. It is believed that this should be first-line treatment for infertility. From a naturopathic perspective, you cannot improve your fertility without improving your overall health. In fact, menstrual cycle patterns can be a sensitive indicator of overall health. Infertility treatment is a holistic assessment. Different areas of a patient’s life are asked in order to find clues as to what may be contributing to infertility. For example, poor sleep can reduce melatonin levels. Supplementing with melatonin appears to improve rates of IVF success.

Determining menstrual cycle patterns

Menstrual cycle symptoms can provide information about the function of sex hormones. For example, increased premenstrual breast tenderness indicates that the influence of estrogen is too high. Best naturopaths in Sydney are able to order and interpret lab tests. This includes tests related to sex hormone function, ovarian reserve, semen analysis and more. Specialized tests may also be used, including food sensitivity testing. Physical exams can reveal information about hormone function. For example, breast underdevelopment, indicated by the size of the areola, can reveal a longstanding deficiency of progesterone.

The results of assessment determine the treatment plan. Naturopathic treatment of infertility includes nutrition advice, lifestyle changes, nutritional supplements and herbal medicine. These treatments are supported by scientific evidence. Here are some examples.

Nutrition advice

Following a diet high in vegetables and low in snacks increases the likelihood of pregnancy with in vitro fertilization.

Lifestyle changes

Timing intercourse to happen during the couple’s fertile window can resolve some cases of infertility. This can be accomplished by basal body temperature monitoring, use of LH test strips or monitoring changes in cervical mucous.

Nutritional supplements

Taking supplements can impact the quality of egg and sperm cells. Taking fish oil supplements can improve sperm quantity and quality. This may be because of the high concentration of polyunsaturated fats within sperm cells.

Herbal medicine

Ovulatory disturbance is a common cause of infertility. Taking the herb black cohosh has been found to improve the likelihood of ovulation.

Stay away from trans fats

Did you know that consuming trans fats hidden in foods, such as doughnuts, biscuits, lollies, candy, chocolate, chips, pies, fries, and thousands of other foods may increase your risk of infertility by as much as 70%? Scientists advise women wanting to get pregnant to avoid all trans fats. Trans fats are mostly listed as ‘hydrogenated fat’ or ‘hardened vegetable fat’ or simply ‘vegetable fat’.

Naturopathic and conventional treatment can and should be pursued simultaneously. There are things a naturopathic doctor cannot do that a conventional fertility specialist can. Imaging tests, prescriptions and assisted reproductive technologies for example. It is believed that all options should be on the table and none should be excluded based on whether they are ‘natural’ or not. The point is to have a baby, not to win a philosophical debate! As a rule of thumb, stay focused to recognized and reputed centers of fertility naturopaths in Sydney. They can certainly extract out the problem from your life.

I struggled with severe endometriosis and infertility

Dorota is an exceptional practitioner. I struggled for years with severe endometriosis and the accompanying infertility and fatigue etc. that followed. My goal seeing her was to improve My general well-being but also to have a baby. I now have a beautiful healthy, super alert and active 9 month old boy which we conceived following Dorota’s advice. She doesn’t just give you pills like other naturopaths, she investigates your symptoms and medical results to provide you with supplements and advice tailored to your body. I noticed results within 4 months, reduced fatigue, improved focus and less pain, and after following her recommendations regarding medical specialists fell pregnant 2 months later. I tell everyone I know to go see her and can’t recommend her enough. It’s hard to find someone who balances evidence based practice with complimentary medicine and naturopathy, thank you Dorota!

Preconception Care

Preconception care focuses on your health and the health of a baby you may want to have at some time in the future, thus increasing your chances of falling pregnant.

What Can It Do For You?

Your physical and emotional health needs to be in perfect shape for the bearing of a child.

Effective preconception care will make a beneficial difference to your health and the health of the child you plan to carry. Your body will be well prepared for pregnancy and the birth of your baby.

It takes around 9 months from the time of conception to the birth of a baby.

In reality, this journey actually starts from the time you make the decision to become parents, and continues far beyond the birth of your child.

Preconception care will help and encourage you to embrace the fundamental principles of good health, not just for “the now,” but for your entire life’s journey.

A Good Place To Start.

An excellent place to begin the process of preconception care is with a visit to a practitioner who specialises in that field, for a thorough physical check-up. There could be health issues, which need to be considered or treated to support a healthy pregnancy and birth.

Your Personal Preconception Checkup.

  • Talk to your practitioner about family history.
  • Make a note of any medication you may be on.
  • Discuss any medical conditions you may have e.g high blood pressure.

Should Both Parents Get This Check Up?

Your responsibility as a parent starts well before conception and the birth of your baby. Both mother and father share the responsibility for a healthy pregnancy culminating in a healthy baby. Preconception and prenatal care is then equally important for both. A concerned mother -to – be will want to produce healthy eggs, while a caring, supportive father will want healthy sperm.

What Other Benefits Does Preconception Health Care Offer?

Proper preconception care can bring about positive lifestyle changes, which will result in on-going optimal health. Preconception care is not just about pregnancy. It is a commitment to a permanent lifestyle changes, which will enable you to experience everyday wellness.

Some Things To Note Before Getting Pregnant.

  • Plan when you would like to start a family.
  • If you have been using the pill as a birth control method, give it up a while before you are ready to get pregnant.
  • Consider which vitamin supplements you want to take. Your health practioner can help you decide.

My skin has been progressively clearing up

Hi,
Since having my baby my skin has broken out so badly, I felt extremely self conscious and down. I’ve seen a dermatologist only to be given a very long course of antibiotics which I refused to put in my body.
I decided to see Dorota about this issue, after looking at my bloodwork she has given me different supplements to take and explained the reason for each one. I started noticing results within about 3-4 weeks, since then my skin has been progressively clearing up. I went from getting multiple breakouts DAILY to only 1-2 before the time of the month. Couldn’t be more happier with the results! Dorota is an expert at women’s health and I recommend her to everyone.

Thank you,
Anya (*)

Our Story (Jazz M)

Our story

After a couple of years struggling with fertility and having every test under the sun I decided to explore natural fertility treatments.

I got on Google and found a few naturopaths specialising in fertility and PCOS. I had been diagnosed with PCOS after our first miscarriage.

I called a couple and they sounded okay but thought I would call one more that popped up in my search… When I spoke with Dorota she was so warm and informative as well as sensitive to my struggles and straight away I felt comfortable with her. She suggested we come in for an initial consult to talk about how she could help us.

This was the best decision we made! Dorota was so thorough and sent us away for bloods to be done. When our results came back she discussed them in depth and we started on supplements. She was supportive and encouraging at every appointment. She managed to get my cycle from 40+ days down to 30 and also had us eating healthy and looking after ourselves better.

Dorota became a huge support person especially to myself while we were on this journey as it was not an easy one. When we finally fell pregnant with a beautiful healthy baby girl we were beyond excited and Dorota was there every step of the way making sure my body was in excellent condition to support this growing bub.

Our beautiful girl was so alert and healthy when she was born and we truly believe everything Dorota had suggested played a huge role in her health. My midwife often commented on how alert she was for a newborn baby.

We moved countries before she was born and Dorota has been such a support to me even from overseas. Dorota responds to my emails with suggestions and support going above and beyond.

I feel as though Dorota will always be a special part of our lives and we will be forever grateful for her support and knowledge during a hugely difficult time in our lives. (*)

The Basic Principles of a High Fiber Diet During Pregnancy

A lack of fibre and constipation

It is well-known that a high-fibre diet is important for most people in order to promote regular bowel movements. When food remains in the colon for any extended length of time, it begins to putrefy which results in toxic waste that is taken up into the bloodstream. This can lead to illness and disease. Chronic constipation is a serious issue, but if you are pregnant, then this toxic waste is especially dangerous, as your unborn child is getting nourishment from your bloodstream.

Research has shown that during pregnancy, it is important for a woman to have healthy gut bacteria which produces anti-inflammatory substances which help to prevent asthma-related genes in the baby. It is also recommended that if you are at all irregular or constipated during pregnancy, you must increase your fibre intake to get things working smoothly again. This will not only benefit your unborn baby’s health, but your health as well. During pregnancy, expectant moms often develop high blood pressure, which poses a risk for both mother and child as the pregnancy progresses.

A high-fibre diet has the added benefit of lowering what is a potentially dangerous blood pressure spike.

Why are digestive problems so common during pregnancy?

Many pregnant women are often beset by heartburn, indigestion and constipation, ailments which have never been problems in the past. You may be one of those who are troubled by these unpleasant side effects of being pregnant! Fortunately there are reasonably simple answers – and some simple ways to help you cope.

One of the reasons is that as your belly grows, and depending on how your baby is lying, there is upward pressure on your tummy which often prevents all the food from being digested. Some of the food then passes undigested into the colon, resulting into heartburn, flatulence and acid indigestion. This normally happens during the latter stages of pregnancy and the only solution is to wait it out until after baby is born and things return to normal.

Of course the main reason for the constipation and other digestive issues is the lack of fibre in the diet. All too often folk are on a diet which is high in refined foods such as sugary items, rolls, breads, cakes, biscuits etc. These foods are mostly without any nutritional value and certainly not conducive to regular bowel movements. Eliminate as many of the refined foods as you can from your diet, not only while pregnant, but permanently as well, for really optimal future good health. Cut out the trash and up your fibre intake for excellent results!

Some good sources of fibre

Fibre is not actually a nutrient but is an important part of a healthy diet. It acts as a cleaner which helps carry waste from the colon to the bowel to enable a smooth elimination process to take place. Sufficient fibre in the diet is a great way to ensure a healthy pregnancy and a hassle-free birth of your baby.

Here are some easy-to-obtain sources of fibre:

  • Fruits such as apples, peaches, pears and citrus fruits such as oranges
  • Potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli and other dark green veggies such as spinach
  • Whole grain bread and cereals
  • Avocados are an excellent source
  • Peas, beans, and other legumes

Include these as well as others you may find in your diet, and you will improve your chances of achieving your dream of a health pregnancy and child birth.
